3 Key Factors to Consider Before You Hire a Bellmore, NY Basement Waterproofing Specialist
Sump pump failures, sewage system overflows, storm surges, poor drainage; there are a number of factors that can contribute to basement water issues. Whether you’ve recently had your first experience with a wet basement or you want to be proactive and protect your Nassau County from potential moisture issues in the future, before you hire a company that specializes in basement waterproofing near you, there are a number of things that you’re going to want to keep in mind. Your Nassau County home is your biggest investment, and you want to make sure that you hire the most reliable Bellmore, NY basement waterproofing specialist to protect it.
The following are some essential factors that you should consider before you decide on a company that offers basement waterproofing near you.
Basement waterproofing is a complex process, and in order to be effective, it needs to be done properly. That said, when you’re researching companies that offer basement waterproofing near you, it’s important to consider each contractor’s credentials. A reputable Bellmore, NY waterproofing specialist will have a valid license, and they’ll hold certifications from professional organizations. They’ll also provide references from clients they have worked with in the past. Make sure you ask to see copies of their license and any certifications they hold and take the time to reach out to at least a few of their references so that you can verify the validity of the company’s credentials.
When it comes to installing basement waterproofing systems, there’s a lot that can go wrong; the basement waterproofing contractor could unintentionally damage your Nassau County property, or a member of their crew could sustain an injury, for example. Since there are so many things that can go wrong, make sure that the Bellmore, NY basement waterproofing contractor you hire is fully insured. In the event that something unexpected does happen, the company’s insurance will cover the related expenses. It isn’t enough to just ask the companies that offer basement waterproofing near you if they’re insured; make sure you ask for proof and check to confirm that their policies are valid. If you hire someone who isn’t insured and something does go wrong, you could end up getting hit with unexpected – and exorbitant – expenses.
When it comes to something as important as basement waterproofing, you definitely don’t want to leave anything to chance. While a start-up company may be able to deliver great results, they won’t have a lot of experience to draw on. That’s why hiring a well-established Bellmore, New York basement waterproofing contractor that has been serving the Nassau County community for a number of years is highly recommended. The longer the company has been in business, the more first-hand experience they’ll have installing basement waterproofing systems and mitigating potential problems and concerns that might arise.

Bellmore is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population according to the 2010 census was 16,218. Bellmore is located on the south shore of Long Island 5 miles from Jones Beach State Park, approximately 27 miles (43 km) east of Manhattan, and 10 miles (16 km) east of the Nassau-Queens Line.
In 1643, Bellmore was a farming and fishing town known then as ‘Little Neck and ‘New Bridge’. Bellmore was settled primarily by Englishmen who crossed Long Island Sound from Connecticut in the middle of the seventeenth century. Preston Bowman purchased a 214-acre (0.9 km2) farm in what is now North Bellmore in 1655. Further south, near the bay, John Smith deeded 100 acres (0.4 km2) to his son, Jeremiah in 1676. John Bedell married Sarah Southard and moved into their new home on Merrick Road in about 1689. Two communities grew out of these beginnings. Smithville (later Smithville South) was named for the many Smith families who lived in the area, and New Bridge, named for the bridge that joined the peninsulas south of Merrick Road.
When the railroad was built through the area in 1867 they arbitrarily named their station Bellmore. Development followed as both communities grew towards the railroad and adopted the name Bellmore. By 1920, the Bellmores had a population of 3000 as well as stores along Bedford Avenue. The town was officially named Bellmore in 1900, when the post office was established.
The Bellmore Memorial Library, was founded in 1948. It was started in an old schoolhouse. This library has lasted since 1948 until present, keeping it as the main library of Bellmore, New York.
